After flowering, it is also useful to cut the stems of the flowers when they wither while it is advisable to leave the leaves that will soon dry and come off by themselves. Tulips can generally be left in the same vase or in the same area of the garden for a period of two years. In the meantime, however, the bulbs will have multiplied and the stems of the plants, growing will have thickened, therefore, after this period of time, it is advisable to divide the clumps to give them air and space. If, on the other hand, the choice is to remove the bulbs from their soil each year, it is advisable to be careful when storing them, until the following year, in a dry, cool place away from mice. Before burying them again it is good to use a fungicide to keep away any diseases during the rest period.
