Growing features

Seeds are sown for seedlings in the second half of March. Seed processing is not required; if desired, the seeds can be poured with a growth stimulator for 10-12 hours.

The soil is made up of a mixture of garden soil with humus and a small portion of washed river sand. Seeds are sown with a depth of 2 cm, lightly sprinkled with peat, sprayed with water, covered with foil. For germination, a temperature of about 25 degrees is needed.

Advice: When sprouts appear on the surface, the containers are moved to bright light. From time to time, the seedling containers are turned for uniform development.

Watering is moderate, from a watering can or a spray bottle.

After the unfolding of the first pair of true leaves, the seedlings are dived into separate pots and fed with liquid complex fertilizer. After 30 days after sowing, young tomatoes need to be hardened, this will prepare them for life in the open field. Seedlings are taken out into the open air, first for several hours, and then for the whole day.

Transplanting into the ground begins in the second half of May and early June. The earth should be fully warmed up. Before planting, the soil is mixed with humus, per 1 sq. m can accommodate 4-5 plants. Water them as the topsoil dries up. It is not necessary to form a bush, but the lower leaves can be removed for better ventilation and to stimulate the formation of ovaries.

Tomatoes are sensitive to feeding. Mineral complex fertilizers are recommended, they can be alternated with organic matter: diluted mullein or bird droppings. During the summer, the plants are fed at least 4 times.

Pests and diseases

The variety is quite resistant to the main diseases of the nightshade, but for greater safety, it is necessary to take preventive measures.

Before planting, the soil is spilled with a solution of potassium permanganate or copper sulfate.

Frequent loosening of the soil with moderate watering saves from gray or bark rot.

Having found the first signs of late blight, you need to destroy the affected parts of the plants, and then treat the plants with copper-containing preparations.

Industrial insecticides will help get rid of thrips, whiteflies or spider mites. Planting processing is carried out 2-3 times with an interval of 3 days, until the pests disappear completely.

You can destroy aphids with a warm solution of laundry soap, and ammonia helps with naked slugs.

Rose Stella is a great variety for beginner gardeners. The plant calmly tolerates mistakes in agricultural technology, pleases with good yields and feels great in the open field.
